No, this product is to attract all viruses and spy to it so Windows can be more clean. You know even Windows doesn’t have antivirus, all viruses go to it, if they say “Anti-virus”, all virus “vendors” who would say “is it really? let me try”. Probably this software has a way to separate all viruses from windows, makes itself sick but not windows, so it’s more like a qurantine software.

Sorry, you’re not right in here. The capabilities for spreading malware, for having automated advertising ans SPAM, for data espionage, for remote controlling etc. that are included in “Windows” attract the viruses, not the “Defender”.

That’s right, but it will take time, in fact, very much time. It costs MICROS~1 time and money to include the gained knowledge about different viruses, trojans, malware etc. in their product development. Just imagine how the amount of SPAM filling the Internet would decrease if “Outlook” wouldn’t be that remote-controllabe.
BTW: “Windows” administration and the work to do the proper settings often can’t be done by the average users. Proof: SPAM. Users simply say: “I don’t care about security, I just go there and clickity-click.” Products like “Defenter” will strengthen this mis-belief, I assume.
Time will tell if “Defender” can do good work in protecting other people on the Internet from beeing victims of data sabotation.

Agreed…that comment seems incoherent.
Too bad it won’t install over Beta 1, because on several machines I’ve tested it on, Beta 1 won’t uninstall. Even following the kbase articles that attempt chopping it out with a hypothetical axe doesn’t work.
Perhaps this is worth taking anther stab at evicting Beta 1…
I followed the link to the download site from the article, and was confronted with the Genuine Windows validation. Since I was currently in Ubuntu using Firefox, it was a bit difficult. However, I downloaded the Genuinewhatever.exe, ran it in wine, pasted the resulting string back into the validation process, and now have the Windowshowsis.msi that I copied over to my XP/Linux data partition for later install, when I wander back to the dark side for my gaming fix.

Of course RedHat has bought Sistina, JBoss, Cygnus and more. Does that make them Microsoft-lite?
Microsoft specifically have a habbit of buying out companies because they’re late to the market. Case in point: Internet Explorer.
*sigh* it’s simple math, and is a formula used by IT departments all the time: which will cost less…developing the component in-house or purchasing it from a 3rd party. Most of the time it’s more cost-effective to by the pre-built package and then tweak it to your liking.
Internet Explorer was a case of licensing code, not buying a company.
