I love to see this intense competition between AMD and Intel, in the end we the consumer will reep the benefits and already are. I really hope the K8L gives intel a run for its money.

no they will not,if AMD reaches 25% intel will be stisfied, AMD will be satisfied. intel becuse they are not an monopoly an will not have tosplit their company. AMD is happy becaure 25% is their highest number ever since 486.
In any way when it get to differences amd and intel will work togehter (buy licenses) to make cisc better, and thus make it cheaper. Chen a chineese or indian producer can make a chip strongerthen ot is todaythey will carve a large market away from the usual system. i might be wrong but hey. im not wrong usually =P LoL

But unfortunately, I feel they've waited too long to properly address the Core 2 product, and apparently aren't going to do so.

It killed me to do it, but I just upgraded to an E6400 system a couple of days ago. I couldn't argue with the raw numbers on the benchmarks, so personal agendas took a back seat.

However, since competition is good for the consumer, I'm still rooting for AMD.

Me too. But I also think dedicated specialized chips are going to have some effect in large servers.
