Gnome in Debian unstable is going to get upgraded very soon as Etch is now released. Things have just been a bit slow and frozen lately in that front because of the period when the new stable Debian release was being prepared.

Any way around it's looking good, I think!

I think it is just you or maybe media coverage because GNOME has a regular release schedule and has for a little while now. I have the calender for the GNOME release schedule in evolution and GNOME has been pretty good at sticking to their schedule as close as can be expected for an entire desktop release.

RE[2]: 2.18.1 Release

Is Ubuntu like Microsoft now if it is not going into it all the other distro's are trash?

Well Ubuntu certainly seems to have the blind hatred of many in common with Microsoft....

siimo simply said 2.18.1 is probably what will be in the fiesty release. He is very likely right since Ubuntu is timed to coincide with Gnome releases. How is that calling other distros trash?

yanik made a comment about debian wondering when it would get updated and did not get bashed.

dcwrwrfhndz made a comment about it being available in FreeBSD and seems safe from retribution.

Please save the Ubuntu bashing for users who denigrate other releases for the praise of Ubuntu, not for every poster who mentions the "U" word in any context. I think Ubuntu is over hyped and not the best distro in a general sense. It is not without its good points as well though and blindly bashing Ubuntu is as annoying as people blindly praising it.

Hold your head high and show pride in your distro, do not try and bring your choices up by bashing another's choices.

Thank you.

This to me is the oddest thing about the oss community. Its a community that seems to always fight for the underdog but the underdog becomes top dawg its no longer worth supporting. This is not always tru for every project but the general consensus is bring them up, then tear them down. Ofcourse, this isn't just exclusive to the oss community, we treat our celebrities much the same way.
