EDGE Only?!

I can't believe that they made this phone EDGE specific! It's such a slow network!

Never mind, complaints like that are only for the iPhone.

And as always Eugenia a great review.Edited 2007-08-06 23:28

Personally, I believe that as long as you run EDGE on its maximum strength (which is able to deliver about 20 KB/sec), EDGE is enough to do emailing, or use Opera Mini or use mobile sites. It gets slow if you want to connect your laptop to the network via the phone, but if you just use the phone as is, EDGE speed is more than enough, including for youtube videos or internet radio.

I completely agree since I use edge for things on my treo 750 and it's fast enough for me. I was just trying to make a point that some people's complaints about he iPhone are silly since they wouldn't complain about it on other phones.

EDGE

EDGE isn't bad if you're in a "Fine EDGE" area. Was browsing the web with my iPhone today and was surprised how fast EDGE felt - felt just as fast as with my Sprint phone on EV-DO. Where I live however, EDGE is freaking SLOW. Might as well be using dial-up, it's probably faster.

I've never had a problem with any of the Sony Ericssons I've owned. That said, like most people, I upgrade every 12 to 18 months so I've not exactly beaten my phones to their last dying breath.

I've owned 3 SE phones to this date, all of them were/are lower-end: T310, K300 and W300 (which i'm using right now) and none of them experienced any problems like that. A few of my friends have SE phones (a T610, T630 and 2x K750) and they work fine also.

The k300 after 24 months of usage looked terrible, but was still working fine - i gave it to a friend who exchanged the case and still uses it now.

The way things are going my next cell will probably als o be a Sony Ericsson.

You must have been unlucky or something (or maybe I was just lucky ).

I've a T637 that I've been beating up for over 2 and a half years now.

I expected this phone to last me a year.

It's taken a licking and kept on ticking. Sure, there are things I don't like about it, but I've been unable to find another phone at a price point I'm willing to spend that justifies giving this one the boot.

The worst part is, that Cingular has mostly stopped carrying the good SE phones, and since I'm a bigot when it comes to phones being responsive and not over-blown, I refuse to buy the total Pieces Of Crap that a company that starts with M and ends with otorolla produces. I find Samsungs to be chinsey, and LG's are almost as offensive as Motorolla's piles of shit.

I just want a good, solid, $100 phone that has a non-crippled bluetooth stack. So I can pair it with a laptop. If it plays music, great, but it's certainly not a requirement.
