I use neooffice quite happily on my mac! I have office x 'just incase' but I dont think ive needed to use it for about 2/3 years now

Between iWork and NeoOffice I only spent $79 plus tax and $320.95 (plus the different in taxes) to spend on other things. Or ... to put into savings.

PS: Nobody at work or at home can tell I don't use Microsoft products at all even though I share documents, spreadsheets, etc., with them.

I was laughing about that earlier today. Speculation is that "10000" appeared in the code when it should've been "0x10000". OOPS!

Slashdot posters are saying it's a display bug rather than a calculation error (because graphs still display properly and calculations built on the incorrect cells give correct values). But even if the underlying data is correct, it's still a MAJOR screw-up for the display of the data to be wrong, particularly for cases where human-beings are eye-balling the spreadsheet themselves (rather than just feeding them into larger calculations).

Huge embarrasment for the Excel team, which I gather is one of Microsoft's most proud teams.

I'm pleased to hear that. NeoOffice says it's based on OpenOffice, which is the only one I use (on GNU/Linux). I don't do much exchanging, but if I do, I want Windows zombies to be able to read what I wrote without problems. Its actually pretty stable for an alpha.

IBM has recently made Lotus Symphony available for free. Its an office suite which supports the Open Document format. IBM has announced they are working on a Mac version of it to be out in 2008.
