I have seen a few videos of it in action and it sure looks great. Using hands to interact with objects, move them around and so forth is just so natural for us humans. And imagine if you had one of these in your living room, you threw up a party and you had some multi-user game specifically designed for Surface! Research is constantly responsible for some pretty brilliant, fascinating projects (this and Singularity are the most prominent examples). Essentially, they hire some of the best minds and say "invent something cool."
