Because testing is fun. Because this is how you help a distribution to become better for everyone's benefit including yourself. This is how you give back to the community. Otherwise, stick with Windows, there is no alpha testing there. Planning on replacing my Ubuntu 8.04 installation on my laptop since Kubuntu Remix 8.04 is very buggy (could change with 8.10 release).
