Rather strange; I bought my MacBook back when they offered the white 2.4Ghz model where the original disk space was 160GB; I'm surprised that their low end model was still using 120GB when 160GB as pretty much become the industry standard.

the big difference here for me is the that ram is now running at 800MHz. the slight proc upgrade is nice too (as i believe intel is end of life'ing the one it was using prior) and of course the storage bump is nice. all in all for just shy of 1k it isn't a bad little laptop. I am still waiting for 10.6 to get a "real" mac, but this is a pretty good back to school book.

also these modles still have fire wire, a major win.

The white Macbook now has a faster processor than the cheapest (but still higher-priced) Aluminum Macbook. This state of affairs can't last.

due to the use of DDR3 in the Aluminum Macbook's the low end backbook has a decent preformance advantage over this recently updated whitebook.

133 MHz just a slight bump now but with G4 processors

I'm glad to see Apple are continuing to update their machines as well as keeping the white MacBook alive. I wonder if that bothers Greenpeace. US$999 is still a good price, even though I'd wait for refurbished machines to make sure it's been checked a second time.

I seem to remember when 133 MHz was a huge bump in the PowerPC G4 processor speeds so it's amusing to see that it's hardly noticed now.

I noticed a rumour suggesting that the next generation iPhone would have a 600 MHz processor. It's amazing how far we've come that 600 MHz isn't enough for e-mail and web access on a computer anymore.

It's usually been $1 = 1 Euro for European Apple customers.

(Btw how do you input Euro sign on a US keyboard?)

Still, I really would be surprised if they don't bump the aluminums up to at least make 2.16GHz at the low end. (I'm a gambling man, so I'd say 2.33 or 2.4 to soon become the new aluminum minimum).

Wait, didn't it have to have a physical keyboard to be called a computer? Didn't someone decide that for us recently?
