11) DVDRip
File: DVDRip-1.0.zip
I had to install: libdvdcss-1.2.10-gcc2-haiku-2009-02-28.zip & libdvdread-4.1.3-gcc2-haiku-2009-02-20.zip to get things going. Finally, I was able to read DVDs, able to select titles or files. With most of my DVDs, "Select All" files gives error "Cannot open DVD file, Argh !".
I can select some individual files and rip them; however, for some, one of two errors are reported: "Cannot open DVD file, Argh !" or "Cannot read block, Argh !"
From my collection, I could not rip any of my movies successfully.
12) FireFox
File: firefox-2.0.0.18.en-US.BeOS-bone.zip
It works okay, but it is very slow and sluggish. It sometimes hangs and needs to be restarted. I prefer BeZillaBrowser due to its better performance.
13) CivCTP Demo
Files: CivCTP_Demo_124.pkg & CivCTP_Demo_Update_124.pkg
It installed fine; however, it failed to startup with the following debug report:
GNU gdb 6.3

Thread 14660 caused an exception: Segment violation

14) CL-Amp
File: CL-Amp_v371_x86.zip
Started right up with no problems and played mp3 files great!
15) FlipSideAE
File: FlipSideAE-1.0.7.zip
It opened and closed, no problems there. I tried to rip a CD, but it gave an error for not finding LAME. Then, I downloaded lame-3.96-beos-i686.pkg and installed the package. The PKG installer complained about a bad file, however, the important part loaded. I reattempted to rip the CD. It works. Ripped entire CD and verified by CL-Amp.
There is an annoying feature using this software. The interface panels continue to "grow" with each successive use. I have to open the app, find the corner [which disappears beyond the screen], drag it back into view, and resize the form to its smallest view. At this point, on the File menu, I click on "Quit". This fixes it for the first run; however, you will up doing this all over again later after each use.
16) Freeciv
File: Freeciv_2.1.6.zip
I tried to start the CivServer application. I received the following message:
/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin> civserver
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libintl.so: No such file or directoryI installed the missing library to get another error message:
~/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin> civserver
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libreadline.so.4: No such file or directorythen:
~/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin> civserver
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libreadline.so.4: No such file or directoryI extracted and copied the libreadline files into /boot/common/lib. I restarted Wesnoth to receive the same message again... Stuck!
In the mean time: Starting civclient gives this error:
~/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin> civclient
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libtiff.so: No such file or directoryBy updating libraries for civserver, civclient now give the following message:
~/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin> civclient
runtime_loader: /boot/home/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin/civclient: Could not resolve symbol 'libintl_vsnprintf'
resolve symbol "libintl_vsnprintf" returned: -2147478780
runtime_loader: /boot/home/temp/apps/Games/Freeciv/bin/civclient: Troubles relocating: Symbol not foundI cannot proceed from this point. FreeCiv does not work in Haiku.
17) Ultima 7
File: Ultima 7 (Serpent Isle) for BeOS Full.zip
This game is unresponsive.
18) Wesnoth
File: Wesnoth-1.0.2-BeOS-x86.pkg.zip
The package installed well. On the first attempt, I received an error message. "Could not open "wesnoth" (Missing libraries: libSDL_image.so, libSDL_mixer.so, libSDL_net.so, libSDL.so, libintl.so, libgettextlib.so)". I installed SDL-libs_R5.zip and then I received the following message, "Could not open "wesnoth" (Missing libraries: libintl.so, libgettextlib.so)". Then, I copied VLC's libintl.so to /boot/home/config/lib directory; as expected, I received the following message, "Could not open "wesnoth" (Missing libraries: libgettextlib.so)". Hence, I downloaded HaikuPort09-28-09.7z.
I extracted and copied the gettextlib files into /boot/common/lib. I restarted Wesnoth to get this message:
/boot/apps/Wesnoth> wesnoth
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libtiff.so: No such file or directoryI extracted and copied the libtiff files into /boot/common/lib. I restarted Wesnoth to get this message:
/boot/apps/Wesnoth> wesnoth
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libintl.so.8: No such file or directoryI extracted and copied the libintl files into /boot/common/lib. I restarted Wesnoth to get this message:
/boot/apps/Wesnoth> wesnoth
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libjpeg.so.7: No such file or directoryI extracted and copied the libjpeg files into /boot/common/lib. I restarted Wesnoth to get this message:
/boot/apps/Wesnoth> wesnoth
runtime_loader: /boot/apps/Wesnoth/wesnoth: Could not resolve symbol 'libintl_snprintf'
resolve symbol "libintl_snprintf" returned: -2147478780
runtime_loader: /boot/apps/Wesnoth/wesnoth: Troubles relocating: Symbol not foundAt this point, I could not proceed no further. I wish I could play Wesnoth.
19) Warcraft II
File: Warcraft II Beos.zip
I installed the game and it works great in Single Player, which is what I play. I will not test the Multi-player part of the game. The sound and graphics are good. Once I can figure how to save and load played scenarios, life would be good.
20) BeS9x
File: BeS9x_1.41-1_bin.zip
On startup, I received an error message, "Could not open "BeS9x" (Missing symbol:_ReserveJoystick2__9Bjoystick)". No further attempts were made.
