"Google's much-anticipated new phone..."

"Though the company hasn't mentioned Nexus One..."

Man, I hate it when people start creating hype for a product that has never been mentioned before.

On that topic, has anyone heard anything about Microsoft Platypus? I'm hyped.

I have a Hero and I love it so I am looking forward to this new gadget. I won't get it any time soon as I have only had the Hero for about a month but I surely look forward to anything that's running Android. I think unless Nokia comes out with something revolutionary, will have no choice but embrace Android too. At the moment, their UI is so "yesterday", pretty much like MS' Windows Mobile.Edited 2009-12-30 11:04 UTC

I am looking forward to this as I am in the market for a new phone. I am currently looking at the Motorola Cliq or the MyTouch 3G, which both run on Android and are on T-Mobile so the Nexus One would be perfect fit for me if the price is right.

Is this the same phone as the rumored HTC Dragon/Passion/Bravo? The one that is supposed to be the Android equivalent of the HTC HD2 with a 1Ghz Dragon processor and a 3.5" OLED display? The last I'd heard it was going to be a CDMA phone, which would have led me to believe Verizon would be the carrier... but the article says this is going to T-Mobile?

I'm so confused.Edited 2009-12-30 18:38 UTC

The snapdragon chipset they use are GSM/WCDMA/HSPA only. So T-Mobile and global carriers who use the 900/1700/2100 bands would sell it.
And the screen should be 3.7 AMOLED.

But maybe a CDMA based version will fallow later, after all there is a sd chipset that supports both GSM and CDMA.

I hope the phone works with AT&T's 3G network, if this is what is going to be announced. It's been way to long of a wait for an AT&T Android phone, and I'd like to have a third choice in addition to RIM and Apple.

I hope the phone works with AT&T's 3G network, if this is what is going to be announced. It's been way to long of a wait for an AT&T Android phone, and I'd like to have a third choice in addition to RIM and Apple.

It wont work with their 3G network, as they use 850/1900 MHz frequencies, while Nexus one supports the 900/1700/2100 MHz frequencies for 3G.

But it would work with their 2G network (GSM and EDGE) as its quad band 850/900/1800/1900.

Well maybe the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is the third choice, it has the same Snapdragon processor and it supports AT&T 3G network, but I think that the price will be rather high and they use a older Android.
