You have to remember the film was shot in the 50s (IIRC under the title of "Grave Robbers From Outerspace"), so it's going to look cheap by todays standards.

The problem is the acting, dialog, direction and so on.

Ed Wood monumentally fsck up, he was just lucky that his mistakes gave the film had an unintentional funny element which has redeemed it over the years. I'm not disputing your logic, however Plan 9 still won the Golden Turkey award for "Worst Film Ever".
