Anybody surprised? when was the last time firefox came out on time? I do not understand why they always seem to miss their own schedules and why nobody seem to be giving them a hard time about it.

This is getting embarrassing now and whoever is in charge of releases should step aside and let someone else handle releases.

Could have something to do with the fact that the absolute worst thing to come from a delay for QC reasons on Firefox is that Distros won't be shipping it in whatever their current version will be at the time. Hardly the end of the world. For most people it's not worth getting lathered up over

Because they tag bugs release blocker, or RC blocked in the current case so the fixes have time to be tested before being fixed. It's a good thing. It may be slower to develop, but it is stronger. 3.5 was quite buggy, and not that late. So it is just better to wait until it's ready.

Better they are late and stable than early and buggy/incomplete. For me its important that 4.0 has good support for html5/CSS 3/SVG, we are planning to use these technologies in our next version, planned for release January 2012 requiring at least IE9+, firefox 4+,chrome 7+

Calm down and take holidays.
This is not critical software, you don't pay for it and previous releases work correctly.

Why be so critical of Mozilla's releases process ?
Does your life/business depend of it ?

The only software I can name that gets regularly released on time is Ubuntu… but if you looked at first week bugs on launchpad, you’d see its possibly not a good thing.

Planning? Just use Chrome and any other current WebKit browser, now.

Test with Safari WebKit on Macs and Chrome/Epiphany on Linux; and Chrome on Windows. The HTML5 Algorithm is complete on those.

Since when a release date is a guarantee of stability? As I have learned with Firefox, the final release may not be stable at all.

For one thing I tell you: Chrome ate Firefox lunch.

Opera should learn as much. Look at every Opera for Linux release after 10.10 and you have to wonder where the quality went. I still use 10.10 since no one can agree what is the best quality snapshot build, each one having annoying bugs.

I've personally been using Firefox more and more.

3.5 was quite buggy

Do you have examples because that wasn't my experience. I always run the latest nightlies and apart from 5 days(5 builds) per year I can do my daily browsing without any problems. Firefox 4 prebeta8 is much more fun to run than 3.6

You shouldn't feed the troll. Personally I don't mind waiting for some stable release, plus my favorite addons will be supporting it. http://arewefastyet.com/ yields some promising figures as well.
