Good one, but i for some reason like the funkis style of IKEA's affordable swedish crap. and i am going to bet that the style and functionality eill be very nice for these products as well. And i bet the tv screens itself will probably be from Samsung just as the company they aquired to start producing the TV's did, while the design of the furniture part will be their own funkis style.

According to CNet Asia, the LCD display is to be sourced from TCL of China.

http://asia.cnet.com/crave/meet-uppleva-ikeas-new-all-in-one-hdtv-e...

I love the execution. I hope it looks and works that good as a real product. I'm sure there's a huge market for what amounts to the iMac of entertainment centers.

Very interesting catch, but i find no sources in your article except "The displays are reportedly being supplied by Chinese manufacturer TCL." but as the former independent (now daughter) company of ikea used those as well for low end and smaller screens i do find it very possible. Maybe the Samsung screens will be used in some other model in the future, or the company did not renew the contract. We might never know as IKEA is almost always rather secretive about their deals.

It's not something I'd cite on Wikipedia, but it was worth mentioning.

I know absolutely nothing about the quality of TCL's products, it's possible they make high quality panels. It's equally likely that Ikea will go with a more well-known source.

The wife-acceptance factor is high with this one... I think I'm finally gonna be able to justify an upgrade to our TV and everything that goes with it.

It's obviously not a random choice on Ikea's marketing dept's part to have a woman sell us this thing. Well played.

Yes, and I want to add that it's the verb "experience", not the noun.
To experience - Att uppleva.
An experience - En upplevelse.

I was not impressed with the style. Too plain, not enought places for all the hardware. I would rather have something more elegant looking than this. But for the modernists, this stuff might be great.

Soooo, it's a TV stand that includes the TV builtin, meaning you can't adjust anything, or swap your TV to another stand, or change anything in your livingroom without buying another complete TV-stand+TV?

Don't want cable clutter and whatnot? Get a TV stand that includes channels for the cables, and has doors on the front to hide everything behind. You know, the same as this thing does. Except now you have the flexibility of choosing your TV, optical, cable, console, audio systems separately.

IKEA has some great ideas. This isn't one of them.

I have 2 TCL TVs and they are crap. Both have USB, and both have it disabled.

One of them can't find all channels, while the other one and 4 other TVs do.

One of them somtimes refuses to turn off, and I'm forced to pull the cord.

Both "support" EPG, but only show the current show on the current channel. None of them shows the description.

Just CRAP.

Quite the opposite: rich to buy cheap disposable furniture/electronics and replace it every year. I buy pricy stuff and replace every 10 years for electronics, or never for expensive furniture! I save money because I am not rich! Different mindset.
