So, after Instagram and Flipboard, Instapaper is now available as an Android application ($2,99). It lacks several key features of the iOS version, like fullscreen reading and pagination, and sadly, while it does have some Holo elements, it still looks very non-native (miles better than that horrid copy/paste job Instagram did, though). It’s yet another prime iOS exclusive moving to Android, but I’m honestly wondering how many people care at this point, considering there’ve been enough excellent alternatives on Android for a while now. Let’s just say that I don’t think sales will make Marco Arment change his mind about there not being any serious money in Android application sales, but whether or not that would be Android’s fault in this particular case, I don’t know.
First time I ever heard about this application.
And been using http://www.instafetch.com/ for a while, not only it’s better than readability, it adds speech that brings the app to whole new level.
Can count hundreds of pages of osnews articles that it have read to me during my bicycle trips.
For some reason, that creeps me out. I never thought about my stuff being read aloud.

Nobody took his offer seriously, because nobody cared/was enough of a sucker to accept it. And I guess the iOS version doesn’t bring the bacon home anymore now*, for him to be forced to pay himself some other developer to port it (a half-backed job, moreover).
*not that a six-year-old couldn’t have guessed that there isn’t an infinity of rich people, so the “iOS users pay more for apps” (which this idiot and his fellow fanboi explained by “iOS users are less stingy” when the real reason was obviously “initial iPhone buyers [before the previous-generation iPhones began being sold at lower and lower prices] belong to the affluent stratas of society”) was gonna dry up one day or another, and diminishing returns begin to appear, all of a sudden.

If you look in to this app, though he sanctioned it, Macro isn’t directly responsible. A company called Mobelux created the Android version. The only mention on the instapaper site is a small link to the android version, but if you look, it’s not really otherwise advertised. The entire android site is hosted on another domain.
Another point – the instapaper API is not a secret. Anyone could do this. Just not sure why you’d want to. Especially as Pocket does all of this and is free.
