A new production version of the MySQL database, version 4.0.15, has been released. Additionally, MySQL Studio 4.2.5 is out: a set of MySQL GUI tools for database management, import/export, backup and monitoring tools for OSX and Windows. Firebird-SQL 1.5 RC-6 is out too, release notes. In the meantime, SAP unveils GUI Machine, a set of dev RAD tools, while an Oracle executive says the company is building a consortium of industry players to help create standards for commercial use of grid computing. Interesting results of the recent TPC-H benchmark performance testing on Clustered and non-Clustered 100GB and 300GB configurations.

I was just at mysql website – WOW, when did they become ACID compliant and have features like stored procedures and triggers. I never remember them being ACID compliant or have those features of a ‘true’ DBMS
As of version 4 they included all those new features.
On another note if you use Windows to manage MySQL there is a great free tool out there (works with 4) but development has stopped its called MySQL-Front (http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/)

Nevermind – stored procedures and triggers is an ‘upcoming feature’ of MySQL. But atleast it is ACID now

Is another great ACID compilant DBMS. Triggers, procedures etc and check the variety of languages you can write your procs.
If i am using MySQL and i Happen to be doing a databse write of lets say 50,000 rows and during this transaction my connection is lost. What happens to my transaction when the connection is re-established?
There is no such thing as Firebird-SQL. Firebird is it’s correct name. Firebird DBMS at a push. However there’s such a thing as Mozilla project “Firebird”, but that is the work of an evil bunch of trademark stealing, gung-ho developers. The said developers claimed that “Firebird” would only be an internally user project name, yeah right, that happened. Please correct the link.
The correct name is Firebird(tm), and Mozilla people are not evil
