There are a lot of people who want an operating system that allows them to concentrate on the work they do on their pc, without the hassle of tweaking and configuring and worrying about their systems.

And it is here that this distribution proves to be a excellent choice. Security and stability of the linux, and the beautiful desktop and ease of use of the Xandros.

CRC'd the ISO, it's great. Why not working??? Both 2 and 2.5 installed and worked fine, but apparently the new kernel screws a lot of hardware compatibility.
I think more people should be aware of laptop issues, by reading the forums @ xandros.com. If the company pushes their great laptop ability so much, there should be a way to install on laptops.
Bloody hell. Wake me up when Xandros 5.5 is reviewed. Maybe it'll work by then. These reviewers must hand-pick the components and/or systems they review. I have been running X3 deluxe for the last week. I had no probs with the install. Some slight futzing with my wireless network (did not like a ssid with spaces in it...)..

i have not tested suspend/hibernate. I dont think I will either.. I just dont trust it working outside of windows. So I say this- it`s very good, welled layout/installer is easy etc. Crossover is there for the people that need that. Openoffice works fine for me, and mplayer gives med the plugins that I need.

I'd think most people with enough technical knowledge to overcome the hurdles would build their own rigs, and those that don't can always pay someone else who builds with n*x in mind. And for god's sake, when you're choosing a laptop, consult tuxmobil.org and linux-laptop.net

Would you really rather an OS be reviewed with hardware on which it's not fully functional? I just don't get it. We all know that hardware is an issue with Linux, and most of us know it's not Linus' fault as long as there are restrictions such as hardware patents and lack of standards. If you're having problems on your hardware, you need to either deal with it, or preferably, get some new hardware.

I tried installing on my friend's desktop and I can get to the choosing software screen then it spontaneously reboots. Perhaps deselecting Mozilla angered the software gods?
Tried it in APM mode, still no luck. Methinks it's another distro for sure, but I really needed the CrossOver 4.1.
Mayhap another Debian, then, since I can just install the .deb file right?
