Hope there would be a better Linux distribution from India which would provide good support too!

Then, I shall come out of the cocoon of Windoze XP and Ubuntu Linux to buy that distro, even for a price.

But ELX is extremely vague as far as support is concerned.

And AFAIK, there is no text based installations for computers with exotic graphics card which I happen to own.

Hope this helps ELX to come out with something blazing!

Sad that Redmond Linux and ELX were once considered at par with each other.

The former has progressed tremendously with Lycoris although not w/o controversies but the latter has almost stagnated! elx is basically modified redhat and uses the anaconda installer which has a text version. it uses kde as a default desktop and nuola icons but their tools seems to be written on gtk.

Everybody in FOSS is looking to build a community around a product or project, and these guys actually had quite a thriving and growing community going . . . and then they totally left them hanging. After the way their community got burned, and the did get burned IMHO (no updates, dead forums, no intereaction from devs, etc), I can't see ANY community willing to spring up around any of their products for quite some time. Frankly I find this attitude far more annoying than the proprietary OS companies that pay for developement and then ask the consumer to pay for their expense plus some profit.

it would only work when developers get something out of the distro. if they dont they wouldnt volunteer. if they do get back something then you have nothing to complain about. This sounds like a good option, I'm currently using the home edition of ClarkConnect (clarkconnect.com) which is nice however more advanced features cost money, it also uses webmin which is a very easy to use admin panel. I came up with ArchLinux, Debian (now looking @ Ubuntu), Slackware.

The main reason being: package management and updateability.

I looked forward to ELX Power Server 1.0, but not really convinced.

Some advice would help!

I noticed though they they have come out with a new version of their desktop. I downloaded it from Distrowatch the other day. Not bad they have upgraded it some. It is fast and easy to use. Comes with firefox by default.
