Me, I'd be happy with GCC 4.2...

I can only look forward to Snow Leopard reports in the coming days.

2 hour presentation on just the iPhone. Nothing else appears to be going on at apple.

posted by robojerk on 06/09/2008 6:59 pm UTC

Well If I'd actually been there, as I'd be there for the Mac development stuff, I'd be well miffed, as it is I'm just really disappointed.

Worst. Keynote. Ever.

july 11 for 3g

Moulinneuf posted by Moulinneuf on 06/09/2008 6:49 pm UTC

@vargol. And add the MobileMe price on top in order to get Sync that matters.

"The price is a maximum of $199 all around the world -- we're really, really excited about the new iPhone 3G." - steve jobs

Moulinneuf posted by Moulinneuf on 06/09/2008 6:49 pm UTC

199 globally

Moulinneuf posted by Moulinneuf on 06/09/2008 6:48 pm UTC

Come on Steve, not tell us that well'll be able to buy an iPhone at that price without being stuff with a £630 contract we don't want.

posted by Vargol on 06/09/2008 6:48 pm UTC

Will that mean that the UK iPhone 3G will be £50~£80 in the UK?

Kroc posted by Kroc on 06/09/2008 6:47 pm UTC

$199 =~ £100. The same price as the discounted stock-emptiers we had here.

"I'm happy to tell you it'll go for 199 8GB." -steve jobs

@AdamS: They'd be no point otherwise *shrug*. They're getting their delays down over time. The engineering/programming must be very arduous.

Kroc posted by Kroc on 06/09/2008 6:41 pm UTC

I am betting this won't be available until July alongside the firmware.

Browsing, 5-6 hours of high speed browsing. Video - 7 hours, audio - 24 hours

Moulinneuf posted by Moulinneuf on 06/09/2008 6:39 pm UTC

It's the 18 months of a £35 monthly tariff that's the problem, not the phone price

The last time someone stalled this much was Tony Blair, pulling the UK troops out of Iraq.

It's the delivery system that makes Java development defunct. No two phones work the same, nearly every manufacturer cripples their Java implementation in some way so that Java cannot integrate, and if it does, it comes up with allow/cancel prompts

Kroc posted by Kroc on 06/09/2008 5:50 pm UTC

iPhone is the fastest moving platform atm tho, while the desktop is pretty mature. So, there will be more "interesting" stuff for the iPhone short term.

posted by whartung on 06/09/2008 5:44 pm UTC

So much focus on the iPhone :( I liked the older conferences where they spent two hours demoing CoreVideo / CoreImage in Tiger. That was awesome. Hope we get some serious wow stuff from Snow Leopard (and I don't mean features)

Kroc posted by Kroc on 06/09/2008 5:43 pm UTC

OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" is official.

Adam S posted by Adam S on 06/09/2008 5:11 pm UTC

They'll round out the details of iPhone development, perhaps make the dev kit and program "non-beta", more details on the app store. The "Mac Fusion" doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

posted by whartung on 06/09/2008 4:45 pm UTC

Nobody at my local AT&T store has seen any new shipment come in, so if they are released today, it's a good bet they won't be on sale until tomorrow at the very soonest.

Adam S posted by Adam S on 06/09/2008 4:17 pm UTC

All new iPhones will belong to Steve. He will just let you use them for a while.
