I can only look forward to Snow Leopard reports in the coming days.
posted by robojerk on 06/09/2008 6:59 pm UTC2 hour presentation on just the iPhone. Nothing else appears to be going on at apple.
posted by Vargol on 06/09/2008 6:57 pm UTCWell If I'd actually been there, as I'd be there for the Mac development stuff, I'd be well miffed, as it is I'm just really disappointed.
@vargol. And add the MobileMe price on top in order to get Sync that matters.

Will that mean that the UK iPhone 3G will be £50~£80 in the UK?
$199 =~ £100. The same price as the discounted stock-emptiers we had here.

@AdamS: They'd be no point otherwise *shrug*. They're getting their delays down over time. The engineering/programming must be very arduous.
I am betting this won't be available until July alongside the firmware.

posted by Vargol on 06/09/2008 6:33 pm UTCHey Steve, I did n't buy an iPhone due to the price!!!

The last time someone stalled this much was Tony Blair, pulling the UK troops out of Iraq.
Where's the new hardware already? My lunch break is almost over.
It's the delivery system that makes Java development defunct. No two phones work the same, nearly every manufacturer cripples their Java implementation in some way so that Java cannot integrate, and if it does, it comes up with allow/cancel prompts
posted by whartung on 06/09/2008 5:44 pm UTCiPhone is the fastest moving platform atm tho, while the desktop is pretty mature. So, there will be more "interesting" stuff for the iPhone short term.
So much focus on the iPhone :( I liked the older conferences where they spent two hours demoing CoreVideo / CoreImage in Tiger. That was awesome. Hope we get some serious wow stuff from Snow Leopard (and I don't mean features)
posted by whartung on 06/09/2008 4:45 pm UTCThey'll round out the details of iPhone development, perhaps make the dev kit and program "non-beta", more details on the app store. The "Mac Fusion" doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
Nobody at my local AT&T store has seen any new shipment come in, so if they are released today, it's a good bet they won't be on sale until tomorrow at the very soonest.
All new iPhones will belong to Steve. He will just let you use them for a while.
