I would bet that Suse would have been chosen for this rather then Mandriva if Novell hadn't bought them. Too bad with Suse it would have had a chance to be implemented properly.

"I would bet that Suse would have been chosen"

How much ? I whant to collect , Novell whas considered and rejected for real reason that are other then territorial. SUSE would have been scrapped due to its proprietary nature , thats why it lost every government project in europe to Mandriva and Debian , also why Novel opened them up and why they dont exist are bqankrupt and now part of Novell after IBM sold it to them.

Its not because a clueless like you dont like Mandriva name that the quality of software dont speak for itself.

Why do you think its whas first on Amd 64 ? the instal whas done at Cebit on prototype , the management at the time did not see the interest in investing on a prototype technology and taking the lead on it.

Why do you think its the only Intel centrino certified GNU/Linux platform suported ?

Why Do you think HP is intaling them as default on there GNU/Linux hardware ?

http://wwwnew.mandriva.com/en/company/about

"Mandriva is involved in several large multi-country, multi-competency European projects. The company is often selected in tenders because of its unique expertise and position as a global Linux publisher. Major projects include Synapse (secured CC-EAL5 operating system), EDOS (complex software development management) and Ucopia (advanced mobility)."

Mandrake as beaten Red Hat in sale in the US before there IPO , its also the main factor why SUSE is bankrupt and a portfolio at Novell , Mandriva competed and won against them , all the time.

Madriva was chosen solely because it is the prominent European Linux Company. Why else would they chose a company that just came out of bankruptcy and is still trying to get it together especially when there are Linux companies much better equipped to develop this type of solution most notably RedHat and Suse. Nothing wrong with keeping business local but don’t try and tell me that Mandriva was the best choice because its somehow different then other major Linux companies.

Your a kid who's ashame of is ancestry , of is parents , of who he is and of is real name , look yourself in the mirror , kiddo.

Grown up use there real name and aint afriad of what they say will be put back on there shoulders.

Was that an insult? or attempt at one? I can't tell I don’t speak retard.

okay firstly, Mandriva is awesome.

It is the first distro I have ever seen work completely on a 64 bit machine. well there are a few problems but its linux you get what you pay for you know what I mean?

But dude, stop burning people alive for apposing you. theres a whole world of distributions out there and most of them only a hnad full of people can even handle. Case and point, Ubuntu in my opinion is physically impaired and infact totally useless for any power user. besides the fact that ninety-nine percent of it didnt even work at all on my 64bit machine.

On the other hand I have met many a person who is very happy with their ubuntu. they got everything to work, and its no problem for them. so I dont worry about it, most people I have met hate DSL or Mandriva, but those are my top two choices. give em a little room.

okay back on topic. this sounds pretty cool for mandriva. cept' all this:
"Social Semantic Desktop, which will bring three major changes to desktop computing: the availability of contextual information; the shift from hierarchical to semantic storage; and advanced methods of assisting users through collaboration and more effective search."

sounds like I've just been ripped off or just too slow. I've been working on something exactly like this for a film/VFX studio.
everything is interconnected so that If I parent emacs to konquerer I get all the same info in both windows but just different format. The source code of webpages spits out in one, the page in another. It'll also organize all the files by the properties of the actual file instead of its tag. In music for example, everything is organized by beat count and tonal qualities, thus seperating the Maralyn Manson, form the Death cab for cutie. It's even set beyond genre down to the artist, but the tags are used to keep the program from putting a song in the wrong place.

I'm not really finished yet, I dont have a full package list and its not all compilable yet. so no distro watch till then.

oh well I'm sure mandriva will beat me to it....
