SGI and IRIX SGI is not very willing to communicate about any strategic changes it is plannign to make in their product line up. "Thankfully, we happen to know a couple of SGI's largest customers - the kind of folks who actually receive information from the graphics beast. In order to help out the rest of you poor, informationless sods, we're going to don SGI's marketing cap for the moment and get out the good word to customers large and small. Here's where SGI is heading according to the insiders."

Can't you guys link to a source with at least some tangible shred of credibility? I have learned long ago to stay away from The Register's continuous flow of pseudo-journalistic nonsense.

Attacks on sites require proof. For instance, many laughed at El Reg for reporting about Niagara II-- only to run away tail between their legs when it turned out they were right.
