Complexity and usability

I think this is all about our objective on programming.If we are thinking in develop some network protocol or driver,yes!, we need that knowledge and some complexity.
But in the other side,if we are develop a php or gtk project, no!, we donīt need that so much, because there are frameworks that hidden this complexity from us, in flavour of usability.We can "abstract" to focus on usability.
