Amiga & AROS It was a nice departure last week, to write about not so serious matters, in order to make fun of everything and everyone (including myself). Today, however, it's back to more serious matters (if you can call computer matters 'serious', of course): Amiga OS4. Or how it will fail utterly if Hyperion/Amiga Inc. don't get their heads out of the sand. Note: Sunday Eve Column.

"So instead I joined AW.net as AO had mostly become a commercial outlet for a rival company (for instance employing the website owner, seemingly pushing an alternative to Amigas through people's throats)."

Cut down on the fanaticism, sleaze and pathetic lies already.

Amiga.org has NEVER been about selling anything, or pushing ANYTHING down anyone's throat, unlike for example... er... aw.net!

Your use of the word "rival company" tells volumes. Do you have a company, Mike? Does aw.net have a company? What are your products, and how would amiga.org be acting as a "commercial outlet" for a company that's a "rival" to your company?

Grow up.

"AW.net has mostly been focussed at helping with and informing people about AmigaOS4, and IMO we did a good job at that."

You make people's stomachs turn, Mike.

Aw.net has been focused at marketing whatever crap that happened to bear a licensed "Amiga"-something-or-other logo. Deleting actual discussion isn't "helping" anyone, other than possibly the vendors of the products that are being discussed. Feeding a childish "war" between "red" and "blue" "sides" like AW.net has done has helped no-one. Shamelessly pimping fraudulently shifted garbage like "AmigaOnes" and making the "AmigaOne" support (=problem) forum hidden has only harmed AmigaOS and its users. Hiding information about the outside world to the cultists helps no-one. Lying about the great evils of the grim outside world helps no-one (amiga.org has never been a "commercial outlet" of anything but amiga.org T-shirts). The mushroom treatment (keep in darkness and feed bullshit) has never helped anyone. There has been more misinformation and deceit than "information" coming from and being allowed on aw.net. The site's general behaviour, its pandering to kooks and extremist deluded fanboys, its silencing of discussion, its removal of dissenters and its public presence has tarnished anything Amiga-related. People now think that EVERYONE who has an Amiga interest is a scary and extremely gullible fanatic, because that's what people see on a heavily promoted site (it's even linked to from AInc's site amiga.com, as well as from Eyetech!) called "The Amiga Community Portal". Well done!

Just witness the f--king lunatics (I'm at a lack of other words to describe them) on aw.net who are drooling in rage right now over this OSNews column! The sane people in that long thread can be counted on the fingers of one hand, and they ("umisef" for example) are being flamed for exhibiting even a modicum of lucidity and connection to reality!
What you see there is what you get when you grow a cult. Cults are not helpful or informative.

And still things HAVE improved there!
