Alas, I do both. I have Windows and Linux partitions on my laptop, and dual-boot them, but I have also been known to crank up my native Windows partition in VMware on Linux. If virtualization were complete, a la IBM mainframes, I could do away with the Windows partition and run everything under emulation, but as good as VMware is, it still emulates many of the PC's devices, so I have to native-boot Windows for some devices I have that only have Windows drivers.
I'm still trying to decide what to do with my home/server machine: build a honking box and virtualize several OS instances on it for different things, or do the eBay thing and get a cheap PC for each task.
