Yeah! The article didn't give the option of multiple PCs and a KVM switch, but this is my prefered way to boot alternate OSes too.

The main problem with the KVM switch is that none are perfect. I have a mix of Analog and DVI video. And there's one PC with a burned out PS/2 mouse connector, so I have to use a USB mouse on that one PC--that means two mice and I often grab the wrong one.

But by keeping everything separate you are less likely to get in a situation where screwing up one environment impacts another.
