Linux Efforts to bring glitzy new graphics to Linux are fueling an old conflict: Does proprietary software belong in open-source Linux? The issue involves software modules called drivers, which plug into the kernel at the heart of the open-source operating system. Drivers let software communicate with hardware such as network adapters, hard drives and video cards.

I thought open-source was the savior of the world?

The fact is Linux would be pushing up daisies if it wasn't for Microsoft and the proprietary world.

Microsoft developed NDIS and look at how linux has ridden the coat tails. Now, the precious Xgl interface has no chance without NVIDIA and ATI.

You free-software guys (loaders) owe the commerical software world a big thank you, for helping to make your OS (linux) what it is today.

Banned? You would take away my freedom just because I disagree with you? I thought linux idiots like yourself were all about freedom and choice (so long as we agree with you, right?)

You communist pig.

I never said commerical software was responsible for spyware. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, show me unbiased evidence.

I doubt you have the courage to respond. What a moron.
