I've been to more Bill Gates keynotes than I can count, and this was the first time I ever saw anyone climb over other people in order to secure a better view (no offense to Mr. Gates, but he's not exactly a dynamic speaker). WinFS being cut wasn't because of security. It was because it wouldn't be ready to ship in the timeframe they wanted Vista to ship, in part due to additions they wanted to make after getting feedback from PDC. I'd expect to see it released within the next 2 years.
