Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Sun Microsystems plans to offer support for the Ubuntu server Linux distribution on its T1 server line, the company said at the JavaOne industry conference in San Francisco. "We will be aggressively supporting the fork work [stuff] that Ubuntu has been doing," Sun chief executive Jonathan Schwartz said at the conference. Heh, heh. The itweek article says Sun supports the "fork" Ubuntu has been doing while the zdnet article talks about Sun supporting the work Ubuntu has been doing. :-D

I think the correct term here would be neither fork nor work but port.
