Linspire Kevin Carmony of Linspire/Freespire has announced that the first beta of Freespire has been released earlier than anticipated. Get it from the download page. According to Carmony, this release includes out-of-the-box support for proprietary formats such as .mp3 and WMV, plug-and-play support for Ati and nVIDIA cards without user intervention, Click-N-Run, and much more.

I must admit, I find it incredible that the head of Linspire himself visits forums like these to address people's concerns and questions directly and promptly"

Kevin Carmony's presence has been noted by many. The comments I've seen are mostly positive regarding this.

Normally, whenever a CEO or company official is in the public eye it's to be reactive to adverse situation. Not so, it seems, with Linspire & Kevin Carmony. He seems to always be proactive instead of reactive.

This is a good thing as it keep Linspire and their folks 'grounded' and approachable to the various 'Net communities & forums.
