Well either they would become as successful as you predict or the two teams will bicker and debate endlessly over how exactly the merging should happen and what overlapping technology should be dropped and no real work will get done for 6 month until 3 or 4 forks develop and people get back to coding on those

so if this is honestly open why dont fedora and opensuse merge.... become one... this would create the biggest single rock since the earth was created...
