Mandriva, Mandrake, Lycoris Last week we announced Mandriva's brand new distribution, and now Mandriva Linux 2007 is finally available to the public. The key new feature of Mandriva Linux 2007 is the AIGLX and Xgl 3D-accelerated desktop. Mandriva is the only distribution which offers both AIGL as well as Xgl out of the box; it will decide by itself which of the two is preferred for your setup.

Think about it...

this will be the current version for three months of 2006 (October, November, December) and nine months of 2007 (January through September). It makes more sense to call it 2007...

plus people would feel a bit dumb downloading MDV 2006 in 2007. I always feel a bit sorry for the poor people running Windows Server 2003...:P

Adam,

Installed and running with 2.6.17.13-mm-desktop-3. Mandriva have done a great job on this Adam. You can really see the fit and finish from Lycoris, the stability of Connectiva and the bleeding edge (for now) of Mandrake coming through on this release. This truly incorporates the strengths of the 3 distros in its bloodline. Great job!

Cheers.

Matt
