How many of you are comparing to those who don't relly need the source code of the drivers, just to work out of the box?

Assuming you're replying to me: *I* don't need the source code, but Linux developers *do* need the source code in order to make sure the drivers work with the OS. Failing that they need the specs, but I think history shows that companies that don't release the source code aren't any more willing to release the specs, and companies that DO, are.

Why do Linux developers need the source?, Apple and Microsoft doesn't need it and their marker share is larger, so, How does Linux stand here?
