Gnome The GNOME team has released the first maintenance release for the GNOME 2.18 series, logically dubbed GNOME 2.18.1. While development has started on the GNOME 2.19/2.20 road, work on the stable branch continues to make it even more solid."

anyone knows what's up with gnome on debian? Even unstable is outdated...

Gnome in Debian unstable is going to get upgraded very soon as Etch is now released. Things have just been a bit slow and frozen lately in that front because of the period when the new stable Debian release was being prepared.
