Gnome In the GNOME bugzilla, there is an ongoing discussion about whether or not to include a patch into the default GNOME installation which would enable GNOME to (optionally) have a global application menubar, similar to that of the Mac OS and KDE (in the latter it is optional and off by default). Installation instructions and .deb packages, as well as a 60-page (and counting) discussion of the patch, are available on the UbuntuForums. Read on for a poll on this issue.

To me, people are obsessed with there desktop looking like OS X and no we shouldn't have this feature in GNOME. Ubuntu seem to be on a crusade to change GNOME at a fast rate, this is why Ubuntu/kubuntu becomes more buggy.

Why do I say this?, well Ubuntu people complain about GNOME being buggy when it's not GNOME, I have compiled it on slamd64 and it has no bugs like they have.

The menu bar is a direct copy off OS X, I just dont like that since already GNOME has a similar feel to OS X anyway.

I can agree with the rest you said, but this doesn't make much sense ;-)

I can see why you wouldn't use it (I tried it in KDE for some time, didn't like it at all) but then, others might. And some argue for usability reasons. So if they keep it off by default, or at least configurable, what's the problem of allowing a potential usable feature in?

"The menu bar is a direct copy off OS X, I just dont like that since already GNOME has a similar feel to OS X anyway."

Same argument I used as a "for"

Actually, I don't think this should be on, but I would like to see it as an option. They've simplified the interface so much, what can be wrong with one frill?

(ducks head)
