Gnome The GNOME Community Roadmap is a big-picture view of functionality we expect GNOME to include in short-term and long-term future. The roadmap is based on feedback from current GNOME developers and other community members. This roadmap shows the ideas and hopes of GNOME contributors for the near future.

hold on. so ... if we aren't working on interop, people crap on us. if we are, people point to it and say, "see, it wasn't good!" that's highly rediculous behaviour and not particularly motivating.

thankfully we do what is best for our users, regardless of the "wisdom" of people such as in this thread.

now, to your claims. we're not using the GNOME HIG, though we have drawn inspiration from various efforts around the tech world. (i'd also note that the GNOME HIG is hardly original.)

Qt has an option to be compiled with the glib event loop so that if people want they can create components in one toolkit that work in the other. in any case, it's a compile time option. and apparently we're the ones flexible enough to fix these problems so that our users are happiest.

as for being the new shrubberies, i think if you look at all the additional functionality and features offered in addition to all the interop work, you'll have your answers.

i completely agree that today it is. that's why we put so much effort into interop as well improving our infrastructure and applications.

and yes, like you, i wish people would grok that and stop the inane "my dad can beat up your dad" discussions.
