In the interview he says certain things which should cause tectonic shifts in the mindset that we have all been having. Why didn't we realize these things before? As you can see, the article intrigued me quite a bit, and got me thinking about a better way forward for the Free Software OS. I'll go through some of the basic points that he makes and lay out one possible solution and its implications. However, take this article as just a discussion starter." Obviously, I totally agree with you. We've been saying the same thing for years now. You can have a dedicated, GPL licensed desktop OS without forking the Linux kernel. I absolutely see no reason why Syllable running on desktop machines and Linux running the servers those desktops rely upon is not a workable, sensible model.

why not focus on other projects for the desktop, such as Syllable instead of forking?
