Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 5 has been released. And Kubuntu had an X config tool for ages, so it's just that the Ubuntu guys wanted something GTK, I guess.

Funny you say this. displayconfig-gtk actually uses guidance as a backend. FYI: guidance is what the "Kubuntu X config tool" is based on. Check it out:
