Gnome Ars has reviewed GNOME 2.20. "GNOME 2.20 was officially released last week after six months of development. The new version includes strong incremental improvements that contribute to a better user experience and provide more flexibility and integration opportunities for third-party software developers."

ah, ok - that makes a bit more sense then, thanks for the info. Were do mortals get those packages without using a package manager?

I do, however, still feel its a bad direction to take - next Gnome will depend on Java too (thos less bad after they GPL'ed it)...

I am all for using a "higher" level language, but I would have thought that python was high enough :/
