Seeing the way eye-candy is preferred by users on their desktop, GNOME is too stait-jacketed. With Sun, Novell, Redhat behind it primiarily, is is expected but it is important for the author to make this distinction.
I personally don't work with GNOME unless its a linux box I have to work on at my office. At home, I cannot imagine myself using it. it is too 'Big Brother'-ish IMO. Too much control on what you can do -- and cannot. Can someone tell me, for instance, how I can change the color theme of my desktop without affecting other things like widgets??
