Dream on. You can find Gnome itself agrees it has approx a 30% marketshare... http://live.gnome.org/10x10
Do you have a link supporting this? Since there are so many of these independent polls as you say it shouldn't be hard to find a good credible source.
Over 70% of OpenSuse users are using KDE, so says OpenSuse's own survey on this:
http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/en/6/6c/Opensuse_survey_102_data...
This is despite every review I have ever seen of OpenSuse telling us that Gnome is the default, Gnome is Novell's default desktop on all their distros, Gnome is where all their development input is going etc. For some reason all that seems to be passing their users by.
It's just another case of people wanting to tell us one thing, and the quiet reality being something different.

And look at it now, It can't even beat GNOME.
Ha Ha... Now I've heard everything. KDE has about three times as many users as Gnome, as verified by every independent poll I've ever seen. This gap will widen considerably as KDE4 develops. Gnome is as good as dead.
