... I know that it'll be release when it's ready... but the E team is shooting itself in the foot by not following any type of scheduled release plan ( point-release/alphas/beta/rc/release.) or even a versions. (0.16.95-100).

It makes almost impossible for maintainers to package and support the E17.

It's a shame - we could really use another major DE, (Beyond GNOME, XFCE and KDE) - especially one that takes the road least traveled.

True, I agree with the points you make here. It may be possible by the time that E17 is released there will be no interest in it. I'm waiting for the final release, I haven't ran any of the CVS builds yet, how is it coming along?

... To be honest, it's been a while since I tested a CVS build. Mostly because a CVS build (unlike a pointer release) may or may not work or even build. (... And I have a number of build problems)

... Given the number of components and the complexity of the build sequence, the E team should really consider creating a GARNOME build script. (Again, combined with official point release source tar-balls)

I am running E17 systems using both Elive and Geubuntu and have to say it is really nice. It does have some bugs but it is still in beta so I can forgive those easily enough. I am using it on a daily basis though.
