KDE isn't at 1.0 though and having your version being a X.0 means nothing, imho.
and hence, people are disgruntled.
People? Not really. The only ones I see complaining are some "power users" (God I hate that term) and some site editors.
I dont see many complaints from Joe User.

Which is great. But then, don't use the same designations as the model you disagree with. It's confusing, and the responses here agree with me. A 1.0 release carries with it certain expectations on feature completeness and stability, and the KDE guys cannot fulfill those expectations, and hence, people are disgruntled.
If I develop a scientific model about comparing nations' cultures (like the Hofstede model), and use the exact same names and designations as Hofstede did for his model, then people are going to be confused, and they will ask me to use different terms. Which makes sense.
