Mac OS X "Apple recently released its second update to OS X 'Leopard', and the latest version of its shiny operating system is now numbered 10.5.2. When I reviewed Leopard two days after its initial release I called it the best operating system ever made for the vast majority of users. I think that's even more true now that 10.5.2 fixes some of the first-release glitches that annoyed me in 10.5 and in Apple's first, quick, bug-fix update 10.5.1."

How old is your hardware? My Macbook came with 10.5 pre installed (and I assume, supports 10.5+ and is unlikely to ever run 10.4) I don't remember having many issues with 10.5, but I updated fairly rapidly. 10.5.1 gave me endless issues. The wireless signal would drop for no reason, I would love connectivity every 10 - 15 minutes and sometimes I could only get a connection at all if I disconnected and reconnected to the router or restarted it. This is with a Belkin G router (FSD7230 series). With 10.5.2, my connection has been continuous, so far, for hours. The only issue I've had so far is that my router crashed earlier, but then no WiFi was available at all.

First-generation MacBook, came with 10.4.4 (I think?).

It's been fine, both at home [Airport Extreme and Airport Express], and at work [random brand WAP], for months and months. Updated to 10.5.2 night before last, but haven't been really using my machine as I've been ill—had some occasional drops at home last night, but took it into the office today and it's been up and down like a yoyo. TUAW ran a story on it all, which I initially dismissed because I'd not noticed anything at that point. I spoke too soon :\

Well, a lot of Santa Rosa Macbook owners found 10.5.1 to be a turkey for WiFi, and I was one of them. Now, it's rock solid so far. I've been connected for 4+ hours, no more dropouts, no more weird connectivity loss, no more loss of signal strength. I guess my joy is your sorrow. I'm happy so far.
