Add no other feature except Firefox2-like updates and you will have solved your no.1 problem.
I don't think it's the number one problem for OO.o but it is a significant one. We really need delta updates, it's such a huge package to download on a slow connection. And I have frequently experienced problems with instability and broken features do to a failed upgrade, and have found it necessary to delete my OO.o profile directory and install from scratch.

And an update system that's still stuck in the stone age meaning many users will never get to see this new version.
OpenOffice is sowing a security nightmare by having an incredibly lax and painful upgrade experience, it's just as bad as Firefox 1, where you'd get a totally unnoticeable toolbar button that would require you to download the whole app again and reinstall it for every minor point update. I am getting tired of upgrading customer's machines to try keep them up to date.
