Multimedia, AV For those who follow my latest activities since I scaled down my OSNews participation, they know that videography has been it. Recently I tried to get more serious about it and so last week I shot a music video clip for a local Bay Area indie band, the HIJK (song is available for free download on their site). Should not be a surprise either that two out of the three band members are actually software engineers, this is the Silicon Valley after all. The following is an account of how I did everything and I also give some pointers on how to help your own favorite local indie bands with some video promotion. I find it to be one of the many ways to stick it to the RIAA and their status quo in the market. Update: Added a small making-of video.

how is this OS/geek news? Why should we care? Stuff like that is already accessible via blog feed. The only positive thing about this that we can comment on this as Eugenia censors her own blog.

Thank you for the obligatory "why is this on OSNews?" post. An article deviating from Linux discussion just wouldn't be the same without it. ;)

Being a musician, computer geek, and amateur video guy I enjoyed the article. Especially since I too use Sony Vegas; it's a great app!

Those "why is it here" comments come from crossing the line with news that have little to do with operating systems. This article doesn't even come very close to the geek culture. Opinions on consumer products, "indie" music (usually bland and boring) and intentional acting as an anti-social looser try to define modern geek culture - I'm just opposing.

I have pointed out that editor blog headlines are the place for this and I just had to make a jab at having an public and advertised blog with disabled comments.

OSNews is not just about OSes. Did you ever read our statement in the contact page? If the item doesn't interest you, SKIP it. Don't troll.

Your point would be a valid one hadn't it already been addressed before by OSNews staff. Continually posting it won't change anything. The best thing to do is not click on the link. Simple as that.
