AmigaOS 4.1, which recently finally got a whole lot more accessible, has been reviewed by Ars Technica's Jeremy Reimer. "Long after most people had given it up for dead, companies such as Hyperion Entertainment Inc. are hard at work improving and enhancing the operating system. I had a change to look at a preview copy of the latest release, AmigaOS 4.1, and it is an impressive piece of work." Hardware 3D compositing, memory protection, virtual memory, a modern browser, and performance improvements are among the new features of AmigaOS 4.1. As a sidenote, OSNews will review AmigaOS 4.1 on the Sam440ep in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Indeed Amiga OS would fly, but somehow I suspect that very few people would actually buy it at the price it's currently going for. $150 may be reasonable for fans of obscure hardware, but PS3 users are more likely to simply be looking for something cheap that they can use to surf the web from without leaving the couch.

I don't know of many PS3 users who would care about this, but the Amiga community, and Alt OS community in general I think would pay up for such a thing, especially considering that the cheapest Amiga right now, would run you no less than $800 if you intended to run OS 4.1

I'm not fan of Sony, but man...
...if they really have a copy of OS 4.1 that is running on the PS3 and should they release that....
...regardless of any bottlenecks the PS3 might have, Amiga OS would fly!!!!
