Honestly, Plymouth is not where Linux developers need to be wasting their time.
Come on. I see my system's boot screen for a couple of seconds, once a day. If it flickers or not, big deal.
There are *way* more important parts of the system that need reworking that should have higher priority.

I agree. But they're trying to target Linux based operating systems at the unwashed masses. The unwashed masses are complete drooling idiots that have no clue about pretty much anything. It is not about improving anything, it is just about looking "cool".
