Star Seattle Is the No. 1 Wired City in US

In the News According to Forbes, who conducts this and other types of research every year, Seattle has achieved the crown of being the most wired city in the United States in 2009, squeezing ahead and pushing Atlanta into second place. This is probably due to the septillion Starbucks WiFi hotspots, and it probably helps that Amazon.com and Microsoft are situated nearby. Why not check to see if your home town made it on the list of the top thirty? Glory lies in being a thoroughly networked city.

Well, all those wireless access points have to be wired up further down the line don't they? Wouldn't get very far if they weren't wired up to a broadband connection. ;)

My thoughts exactly. But Forbes calls it "wired." And the specifications to be a "wired" city on their list includes not only WiFi hotspots, but Internet subscribers in general whether they use wireless networks or not... along with a bunch of other network-esque requirements that aren't necessarily wireless. Go figure.
