Barely has that discussion ended, or the GNOME engineering team comes with a pretty daunting plan to introduce a fairly massive reworking of the GNOME interface for GNOME 3.0 (2.30). I'll wait to see how it feels when I'm using it. If it turns out to be not to my liking, there are plenty of other WM/DE options out there from which to choose.
