Podcasts More banal banter of the binary kind; Oracle buys Sun, Yahoo pulls the plug on Geocities, the Acer Revo nettop and much-offtopicness as we discuss the recently announced Windows 7 "Classic" XP mode.

This is the first time I've ran into one on osnews.
I'll just add my 2 cents ;)

1. Could you include an inline player? Right now I click the mp3 link and it takes me away from the page to a new tab with quicktime. Maybe something like http://podcastgen.sourceforge.net/

2. In my fantasy ideal world, there is also a transcript ;) Generated from an amazing speech-to-text program, with hyper links to the proper time sections ;)

I'd love a transcript because listen English is harder (to me) than reading it, but, let's be honest, it is a lot of work to put in chars a whole podcast....

anyway, good podcast Kroc, congrats! ;)

If we had speech recognition programs that good, we'd never need a keyboard or mouse again. Maybe in a few hundred years...

No way, I'll use a keyboard over voice recognition any day ;)

Seriously. I hate the automated phone system which ask you to say something.

Automated operation: "Say English to speak in English"
You have to say English.

Before it was "Press 1 for English"
You just press the number one.

It's so much less distracting to those around you. Imagine working in a word processor and having to say everything you type. The office environment would be screwed.

I don't know about you, but even if we had 100% perfect voice recognition, I'd still use the keyboard and mouse as they're just damn good, fast, precise, and QUIET.

I was curious just to see if automated captioning exists.

Sure it costs money, but not doubt some open source will get that done soon as well ;)
