I was using prefetch for some time now but realised that, probably like SuperFetch, i have almost no gain on apps speedup. On the contrary, my system takes more 10-15 seconds to boot up than without the prefetch deamon.
So my suggestion is this: disable the prefetch deamon and restart the system. Then clock your boot time to see the difference.
